Everyone in life goes through those days where you may feel sad and down on life for no apparent reason. You may be so overwhelmed with life that you don’t know what to do with yourself, you may have just gone through something extremely difficult, emotionally, or maybe even you don’t even know why you’re feeling the way you do. Its hard to be happy each and everyday. But it is so worth trying to think of things that are in your life presently that you are grateful for…imagine your life without those things/people. You will realize how happy you are with where you are. It is only getting better from here on out.
I know this exact feeling. Overwhelmed. Stuck. Confused. Stressed. Lost. I want to help anyone who may feel this way so brighten them up and have little exercises to help them whenever this feeling overcomes them. I invite you to join me in engaging in mindful ways to turn the frown upside down.
1•One Hundred Dreams
This is another journal exercise. Get a “dream book”. One that you love to see and one you look forward to writing in. Just like my journal post. Start writing down 100 dreams you are going to accomplish in life. This is actually so fun. It really gets you thinking of what you want to do in life, makes you visualize and gets you excited to work for new goals that are all of the sudden coming to mind!
2•Don’t sit at home alone. This is a big one. Even if you think you do not want to leave the house and you just want to curl up in a ball…force yourself to go out and interact with others. It gets your mind off of feeling down and usually ends up laughing or even dancing the night away!
3•but… it is okay to be by yourself as well. But do something to get your mind busy. Start a new hobby. Read a book. Go for a run or a walk. Bake. Set up a great atmosphere in your house that you enjoy being in. Light candles and turn on your favourite music and make yourself a delicious meal or dessert. Do not let your place get cluttered or your brain will feel even more dazed and confused.
4•Make a call to someone who you know will cheer you up or that you haven’t spoken to for a while. This helps immensely. My mama has saved/helped me through maaaany breakdowns haha. (Thank you so much, mama<3
5•Start making & working on goals for your life. This refers back to the 100 dreams point. But actually start planning how to achieve these goals. Plan a spontaneous trip. I promise you will not regret spending X amount of money on a spontaneous trip. It is so exhilarating.
These are just a few of the things that have helped me out through times being a confused twenty-something year old. Even if this helps one person in the slightest way my mission is complete. I wish for everyone to always have hope and live a joyful life.
Life is so precious and people take it for granted each and everyday. Always wanting more and not realizing what they have already. Don’t be that person. Always be mindful (I can’t emphasize that word enough for this post) of the people, things and activities that you have in your life currently and realize that where you are right here and right now is right where you are suppose to be. Things will always work themselves out.
