I have done my research on a few very successful business people in the world and I have come to the conclusion that they are all very organized. They treat their every minute like gold and use it very, very wisely. So I have gathered some tips on organizational skills to share with you and hopefully help you feel less overwhelmed in life and maybe bring you a little closer to achieving your goals 🙂

1.) Wake up early
Research has shown that our mind is most cognizant and at its peak for learning & absorbing information in those early hours. I learned yesterday that a lot of successful people wake up at 3:30am to work on their big projects, get stuff done then if they get tired during the day, they would reward themselves with a nap knowing that they have reached their goals for the day. Be sure to get an adequate amount of sleep though. If you’re going to get up early, you must go to bed relatively early to rest your mind and your body. Sleep is very important. Morning is just the most effective time to get things done!

Heck, I got up at 5:00 to get this post together:) fingers crossed I’m on my way! 24 hours in a day. That’s it. you must choose how to use those hours as carefully as possible. And that bring me to my next tip….

2.)Day Planner
Remember those agendas you had in school that you had to bring to class everyday…? Ya, those are actually very useful and efficient for achieving your daily goals. I am still trying to get into the habit of using one myself but it truly does help. When you get up early in the morning (because now that is what you’re going to begin doing 😉 ) use that wonderful time that you now have to yourself as the sun is rising to plan out your day/week.

Set a time you want to get a task done by and make it mandatory. Treat it like you would a school/work project. Schedule your daily tasks top heavy. This means begin with the ones most important to you, even if you have no desire to do it at all. It will feel great to get it done and over with.

Learn from my own mistake, I bought a small day planner (about the size of my hand) because I thought it would be compact and easy to throw in my purse or school bag. But I highly recommend purchasing a full paper sized planner. Much easier to read and you do not have to cram so much into one little box!


3.) Have a white board calendar in your kitchen
Lets face it… we all love food therefore, we are all always in the kitchen 🙂 Having a whiteboard calendar in your kitchen or even above your desk (wherever you are most in your house) you will feel so much more organized glancing at it all the time. This is like having your day planner all condensed in one!


4.) Tidy home, tidy brain
This is definitely one of the most important tips I am sharing with you this morning. How you keep your home will affect you so much whether it be negatively or positively. Walking into a dirty, cluttered home and trying to motivate yourself to do work as best as you can will not work. I can tell you that right now. You will feel overwhelmed and exhausted just looking at the mess you have to clean. I got this feeling a lot when I had moved into my new place as there are boxes everywhere and not enough space for my clothes (the one time I regret having a lot of clothes is when I move. Ha!) I forced myself to clean and it takes such a huge weight off your shoulders and you actually feel more motivated to work as best as you can.

One of my favourite things ever! Sometimes I really, really don’t feel like working out but once I’m done whatever activity I decided and forced myself to do, it always turns out to be one of the best workouts and I feel absolutely amazing after. For example, yesterday I was a little bummed as I couldn’t think of any blog posts to write about. It was about 2pm when I went for my run and during that run I thought of like eighty million, yes eighty million, ideas to write about! My mind was so clear and I felt amazing and so excited. Make sure you allot at least 20 minutes out of your day to get your body and blood moving! Majority of successful business people exercise and swear by it. Definitely increases your brain power.



Personally, I was like Ten Second Tom and was very forgetful, especially on little daily tasks. I would be laying in bed at the end of the night remember what I was actually suppose to do and then be so frustrated that i forgot all about them.  Since I have implemented all of these tips into my life I have noticed a transformation and it will only get better from here!
